Friendly and practical help for the residents of Merstham
Merstham Neighbours was established in 2010 and has been flourishing ever since. We have around 30 registered volunteers and 60 registered clients, though by no means all of them will be actively using the scheme all the time. The scheme is administered by a small committee, who meet once a month to monitor progress.

Ideally, we would like our committee to have 6-8 volunteers, as individuals from various backgrounds can bring a variety of ideas, knowledge and feedback to our meetings, which keeps us get in touch with our community.

For our clients without family members willing and able to take them to appointments, Merstham Neighbours is a real lifeline. We can proudly say that we have made a real difference to the quality of life of many people who are living alone in our community.
By staying small and local, we do not need to comply with the complicated bureaucracy that comes with registered charitable status, though we do of course use the DBS service to check all our volunteers, in compliance with the law.
